Participation in a meeting at Sabarmati Ashram Preservation Ashram and Memorial Trust (SAPAMT), Ahmedabad to update and present the approach being taken to develop the Sabarmati Ashram precinct (21.02.2024)

Sabarmati Ashram Preservation Ashram and Memorial Trust (SAPAMT), Ahmedabad called for a meeting in its premises on February 21, 2024 to update and present the approach being taken to develop the Sabarmati Ashram precinct.

Participation in Day-long Seminar on Perspectives for the Development of Raja Rammohun Roy Memorial Museum (18.02.2024):

Raja Rammohun Roy Memorial Museum, Kolkata organized a day-long seminar on 'Perspectives for the Development of Raja Rammohun Roy Memorial Museum' on February 18, 2024 at the premises of the museum. Dr. Pratik Ghosh, Director-Secretary of Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalaya, Barrackpore was invited by the authority of Rammohun Roy Memorial Museum as a speaker to deliver his views about enlarging, supplementing, reorganizing the display and related field initiatives of that museum.

Participation in 47th International Kolkata Book Fair – 2024 (from January 18 to January 31, 2024):

Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalaya participated in 47th International Kolkata Book Fair, 2024. The Sangrahalaya presented a special exhibition on 'Mahatma Gandhi - The Millenium Man in Stamps: the Courier of Truth and Non-violence', which was composed of almost 100 postal Stamps,

Participation in the Students Week programme at Mahadevananda Mahavidyalaya, Barrackpore (04.01.2024):

Mahadevananda Mahavidyalaya, Barrackpore observed the Students' Week from January 2 to 8, 2024. In this connection the authority of the college invited the Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalaya, Barrackpore to present a documentary show on the Biography of Mahatma Gandhi and to conduct a quiz programme on life and activities of Gandhiji for the students of their college on January 4, 2024.

Participation in Kolkata District Book Fair-2023 (17.12.2023 – 24.12.2023):

Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalaya, Barrackpore participated in the Kolkata District Book Fair 2023 at Bidhan Sishu Udyan, Ultadanga, Kolkata, held from December 17 to December 24, 2023. The Sangrahalaya presented various photographs of Gandhiji in its stall.

Participation in the Inaugural Ceremony of 'Gandhi Vatika' at Jaipur, organized by the Government of Rajasthan (21.09.2023 – 23.09.2023):

To celebrate the inaugural ceremony of 'Gandhi Vatika' – a unified Museum in memory of our Father of the Nation – Mahatma Gandhi, the Government of Rajsthan invited the representatives of various Gandhian Institutions of the country. It was indeed a privilege for Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalaya, Barrackpore to be present on the occasion of inauguration of this museum at Jaipur in Rajasthan.

Inauguration of Exhibition, entitled 'Partition of India' to mark the occasion of 'Partition Horrors Remembers Day', organized by the Head Post Office of Barrackpore (11.09.2023):

The Head Post Office of Barrackpore organized an Exhibition on 'Partition of India' at their premises on September 11, 2023 to celebrate the 'Partition Horrors Remembers Day'. The authority of Barrackpore Head Post Office invited the Director-Secretary of Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalaya to inaugurate this Special Exhibition.

Participation in the workshop on the Restoration and Augmentation of the Sabarmati Ashram precinct (02.07.2022-03.07.2022)

As a representative of Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalaya Barrackpore the Director-Secretary of the Sangrahalaya attended a meeting on the proposed project regarding the restoration and augmentation of the Sabarmati Ashram precinct, organized by the the Sabarmati Ashram Preservation and Memorial Trust on July 2 and 3, 2022 at the Ashram's premises in Ahmedabad.
The Directors and Secretaries of other Gandhi Museums throughout the country, such as National Gandhi Museum, New Delhi, Mani Bhawan Mumbai, Gandhi Memorial Museum, Madurai, Sevgram Ashram and such other Gandhian Institutions were also attended the two days' meeting and suggested their valuable opinions regarding the restoration and augmentation of Sabarmati Ashram in the meeting.

Participation an Online Governance and Museology Discussion Forum, organized by ICOM International Committee for Museum Management (22.02.23)

ICOM International Committee for Museum Management (INTERCOM) in collaboration with Foundation Typa, Argentina organized an Online Governance and Museology Discussion Forum, which was designed for the South Asia Museum Directors Forum on Governance, Funding and Museology on February 22, 2023.

Participation in 46th International Kolkata Book Fair (31.01.23-12.02.23)

Along with this many valuable books written by and on Mahatma Gandhi and also on the History of Independence and Biographies of great Personalities and other mementos like Charkha, etc. were kept in the stall.

Participation in the Seminar on the "Restoration of Museum Building: Issues and Challenges”, organized by Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis Memorial Museum & Archives (16.03.2023)

Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis Memorial Museum & Archives (PCMMMA) under Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) organized a seminar on the "Restoration of Museum Building: Issues and Challenges” on 16 March 2023 at ISI Campus. The Director-Secretary of Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalaya, Barrackpore was invited as a Guest Speaker to deliver a lecture in the Seminar.

Participation in 3 Days' Programme, organized by Gandhi Seva Sangha, Laketown, Kolkata (From January 8 – January 10, 2023)

To mark the occasion of 75th year of Gandhi Seva Sangha, located at Laketown, a 3 days' programme had been organized by this organization in collaboration with Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalaya Barrackpore at the auditorium of Gandhi Seva Sangha from January 8 to January 10, 2023.

Participation in All India Gandhi Museums Forum Meeting (28.03.2022)

All India Gandhi Museums Forum Meeting was held on March 28, 2022 in a hybrid mode (both offline and online) and it was organized by the National Gandhi Museum, New Delhi. The Office Bearers of all the seven national recognized Gandhi Museums throughout the country attended the Meeting. Shri A. Annamalai, Director of National Gandhi Museum presided over the meeting. Dr Atul Pandya, Director of Sabarmati Ashram Gandhi Museum and Shri Virat Kothari of Gandhi Heritage Portal of Sabarmati Ashram, Ahmedabad; Dr. Viva Gupta, Secretary of Magan Sangrahalaya, Wardha; Shri Nandarao, Secretary of Gandhi Memorial Museum, Madurai; Shri Sajeev Rajan, Office Bearer, Mani Bhawan Gandhi Sangrahalaya, Mumbai; Shri Asif Wasi, Director of Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalaya, Patna and Dr. Pratik Ghosh, Director-Secretary of Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalaya, Barrackpore were present in the meeting to represent their museums. All the representatives of Gandhi museums discussed about their plan of activities, new initiatives, extension services, etc. during the meeting.

Participation in the 45th International Kolkata Book Fair (28.02.2022 – 13.03.2022)

Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalaya, Barrackpore participated in the 45th International Kolkata Book Fair by holding a Stall from February 28 to March 13, 2022 at Central Park, Saltlake, Kolkata. A Special Exhibition on 'India towards Freedom' was presented in the stall through various rare photographs and write-ups related to the history of Indian Independence. The great contribution of Women in our Freedom Movement was also depicted through this exhibition. A Special Photo Album composed of 100 photographs on life and activities of Mahatma Gandhi had been also displayed in the stall.

Participation in the Webinar on Development and Environment in the views of Mahatma Gandhi, Organized by Mahatma Gandhi Smarak Sadan, Dhaka, Bangladesh (30.01.2022)

On the Occasion of the 74th death Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Mahatma Gandhi Smarak Sadan, Dhaka, Bangladesh organized a webinar on ‘Development and Environment in the views of Mahatma Gandhi’ on January 30, 2022. Atiur Rahaman, former Governor of Bangladesh Bank presided over the Webinar. Dr. Debapriya Bhattacharya an Economist and Policy Analyst was present as the chief Guest and Dr. Pratik Ghosh, Director-Secretary of Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalaya, Barrackpore was present as a Special Guest. They delivered their valuable speeches regarding the topic of the webinar.

Participation in the programme of Annual Convocation of Digital Media Association in North 24 Parganas District (16.12.2021)

Digital Media Association in North 24 Parganas district organized the Annual Convocation at Loksanskriti Bhawan, Halisahar on December 16, 2021. The Director-Secretary of the Sangrahalaya was invited by the Organizer as Special Guest at the inaugural ceremony of the programme. The Chairman of Halisahar Municipality and Kanchrapara Municipality along with other distinguished guests were also present to grace the inaugural programme.

Participation an Exhibition on 'Cluster of Museums' (19.11.2021 – 25.11.2021)

Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalaya, Barrackpore participated in an Exhibition on 'Cluster of Museums' on the occasion of 'World Heritage Week - 2021, which was organized by Paschimbanga Sangrahalaya Samiti in collaboration with Kolkata Centre for Creativity (KCC) from November 19 to November 25, 2021 at the premises of KCC. The theme of the exhibition was “The Future of Museums: Recover and Reimagine”.

Webinar on 'Mahatma Gandhi and India Today' (04.10.2021)

A Webinar on 'Mahatma Gandhi and India Today' was organized by Field Outreach Bureau Bardhaman, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India in collaboration with Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalaya, Barrackpore
on October 4, 2021 to commemorate the 152nd Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Smt. Jane Namchu, Additional Director General, Press Information Bureau and Regional Outreach Bureau, Kolkata delivered the Welcome Address. Professor (Dr.) Sibaji Pratim Basu, Honourable Vice-Chancellor of Vidyasagar University, Midnapore; Dr. Pradipta Mukherjee, Assistant Professor of HMM College for Women and Dr. Pratik Ghosh, Director-Secretary of Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalaya, Barrackpore delivered their lectures as the Main Speakers in this Webinar. Smt. Sujata Mitra, Assistant Director of Field Outreach Bureau Bardhaman conducted the Webinar.

National Webinar on ‘Remembering Mahatma: Redefining the Nation’: (01.10.2021)

A National Webinar on ‘Remembering Mahatma: Redefining the Nation’ was organized by the Sidho-Kanho-Birsha University (SKBU), Purulia in collaboration with Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalaya, Barrackpore on October 1, 2021.
The Webinar was inaugurated by the virtual presence of Professor (Dr.) Dipak Kumar Kar, Honourable Vice- Chancellor of SKBU and Professor (Dr.) Narugopal Dey, Dean, Faculty of Arts of SKBU. At the beginning of the Webinar Professor Gouri Sankar Nag, Professor, Department of Political Science, SKBU delivered the Welcome Address. The Honourable Vice-Chancellor of SKBU and Professor Dey delivered their inaugural speeches at the inaugural session of the Webinar. Professor Dhananjay Joshi, Professor, Department of Education, GGSIP University, Professor Nirban Basu, Former Gandhi Chair Professor of University of Calcutta, Professor Rajkumar Modak, Professor of Department of Philosophy of SKBU and Dr. Pratik Ghosh, Director-Secretary of Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalaya, Barrackpore were present as the Main Speakers to deliver their virtual lectures in this Webinar. The Webinar was conducted by Professor Gouri Sankar Nag.

As part of the series of Talks on Celebrating 150 Years of the Mahatma, the Regional Outreach Bureau, Kolkata organized a virtual lecture on Gandhi and Khadi. Dr. Pratik Ghosh, Director- Secretary, Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalaya, Barrackpore delivered the finer points of this symbolic textile in Gandhian thought through his virtual lecture on October 19, 2020.

Participation in the series of Talks on Celebrating 150 Years of the Mahatma, organized by Regional Outreach Bureau, Kolkata (20/10/2020)

The Regional Outreach Bureau (ROB), Kolkata under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India invited the Director-Secretary of the Sangrahalaya to bring out the finer points of the symbolic textile – Khadi in Gandhian Thought as part of the series of Talks on Celebrating 150 Years of the Mahatma. The video lecture of the Director-Secretary of the Sangrahalaya in the aspects of Mahatma Gandhi and his iconic Khadi, the hand spun textile was published in the youtube channel of ROB, Kolkata on October 20, 2020.

The Director-Secretary of the Sangrahalaya participated in a live Radio Talk Show programme, which was broadcasted through Akashbani by the Department of Panchayats & Rural Development, Government of West Bengal and it was broadcasted through FM Rainbow of All India Radio, Akashbani Geetanjali and Akashbani Siliguri on October 8, 2020. The topic of discussion was Mahatma Gandhi's Thought on Panchayat Raj.

All India Gandhi Museums' Forum Meeting was held on August 31, 2020 through the digital medium. The main agenda of the meeting was the discussion about the tentative plan of action of various Gandhi Museums throughout the country regarding the celebration of year long concluding ceremony of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi during the present pandemic situation.The Secretaries/ Directors of various Gandhi Museums of the country, like National Gandhi Museum, New Delhi, Mani Bhawan Gandhi Museum, Mumbai, Magan Sangrahalaya, Wardah, Gandhi Museum, Patna, Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalaya, Barrackpore and Gandhi Memorial Museum, Madurai attended the meeting and all of them discussed their plan of action regarding the celebration of concluding ceremony of 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

Virtual Participation in the Celebration of International Museum Day (18/05/2020)

The Asiatic Society, Kolkata organized a Webinar by the Audio Lectures of various Academicians and Museum Professionals on the occasion of International Museum Day, 2020 on May 18, 2020. The Director-Secretary of Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalaya, Barrackpore was invited as a speaker of this special ‎Webinar and he tried to highlight some major and user-friendly activities, which the museum personnel can plan to do while the COVID-19 pandemic is keeping visitors at home through his lecture in this Webinar.
